Salad Type

Black Russian

BLACK RUSSIAN
An indeterminate Russian heirloom with mahogany red fruits where the colour catches the sun’s heat creating larger, sweeter, and ripe fruit sooner than red types growing in the same region. Round smooth 4 oz. fruits possess a unique exceptionally sweet taste with spicy and smoky undertones that are enhanced when dried. We had no disease problems and fruits were almost blemish free. Heavy producer and early! Black Russian is a must for black tomato fans and those liking complex flavours in their tomatoes. Prune only to promote air circulation as production will continue throughout summer. One customer said she didn’t like this variety as ‘the taste is too intense’! Like that’s a bad thing.

Celebrity

CELEBRITY
A hybrid variety with a determinate production. An excellent bush variety if you’re looking to preserve and store tomatoes for fresh sauce through the winter.

Early Girl

EARLY GIRL
One of the earliest and most popular slicing tomatoes for our region. A popular globe- shaped red fruit, producing continuously until frost. Needs to be staked well to keep the prodigious fruit production off the ground.

Sorry, no picture available. FERNWOOD RD
We seed-saved this one years ago from a prolific, semi-determinate plant that was literally covered in heavy bunches of uniform shiny red oval fruit with a delicate yellow blush on the stem end. No idea what it’s called, but it’s a great tomato! From a house on Fernwood Rd. in Victoria. Out of all our tomato varieties, this one ripens the best off the vine in the Fall and even keeps (if we haven’t scoffed them all!) until December. A prize of a jar of homemade jam to anyone who can tell us what its official name is!
Money Maker

MONEY MAKER
An old English variety meant to be grown in a greenhouse with high humidity. Slow to mature but worth the wait as it is a reliable producer. Plants are indeterminate with extra-vigorous branch growth therefore it is best to have a small portion of these shoots pruned.

Pale Perfect Purple

PALE PERFECT PURPLE
Potato leaf, deep dusky-rose with white flecks. Medium to small in size. A most unusual tomato.

Red Peach

RED PEACH
A pretty tomato with an early set of globular 4-5 cm pinky-red fruits. The very soft and slightly fuzzy skin makes this tomato look like a peach!

Red Zebra

RED ZEBRA
The red variation of the flavourful green zebra with red and yellow striping. This indeterminate plant produces an abundance of 2 in. fruit later in the season. An attractive tomato with a sweet flavour that is bound to be a favourite.

Stupice STUPICE
A classic red high production salad tomato. Excellent choice for consistent, quality yields for our maritime climate.
Tiger Tom TIGER TOM
Unusual, highly productive small to medium red fruit with jagged orange, green and yellow stripes. The flavour is mild, and the fruits are low in acid. Tender skin. Indeterminate.
Yellow Peach

YELLOW PEACH
Known as a peach tomato because of its buffed, smooth, furry skin and deep-glove shape, these wonderful heirlooms are packed with flavour and just right for garden munching or salads. Absolutely unique in appearance with flavour to match! Introduced into this area by Two Wings Farm in Metchosin. They hold up well into the late fall. Semi- determinate.

Slicing Type

Cosmonaut Volkov COSMONAUT VOLKOV
A thin-skinned, juicy slicer known for superior, rich tomato flavour — a perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Surprisingly high yields of large, round slicing tomatoes 3-4 in. across. Irregular, slightly ribbed tapered fruits. Semi-determinate plants are loaded with clusters of dark-red tomatoes. Need good staking. No cracking. No shoulders
Flamme

FLAMME
This French heirloom has beautiful, persimmon-orange, 3 in. uniformly round salad tomatoes. Sweet and juicy with fruity overtones. Good yields all season long from tall sturdy semi-determinate plants. Grows well in the garden or in the greenhouse, and also does well in containers. This is an exceptionally beautiful tomato.

Green Zebra

GREEN ZEBRA
Greeny-yellow fruits with green stripes! You’d never believe a tomato such as this could be so sweet. Firm-textured, 3-4 in. uniformly round, juicy fruit perfect for salads. Late season ripening. Bushy, semi-determinate plants produce medium to high yields Potato- leafed variety. No cracking.

Glacier

GLACIER
An early, determinate, potato-leafed variety that is very cold tolerant and can begin blooming when only 4 in. tall! Masses of delicious, bright red tomatoes are produced during a fairly short, concentrated season, which helps this variety to avoid the early blight that often affects coastal tomato plants.

Yellow Perfection

YELLOW PERFECTION
A brilliant yellow colour, incredibly productive and delicious. This potato-leaf tomato is thin-skinned and juicy. Ripens well in cool or hot weather. Needs staking. This is one of the prettiest tomatoes we’ve grown and the kids really love snacking on them whole.

Yellow Wonderlight

YELLOW WONDERLIGHT
Bears medium-sized, pretty, sweet yellow fruit. Like all yellow tomatoes, Wonderlight is low acid and therefore a good choice for those who love tomato flavour but who find the usual red varieties too acidic
